In-Person Sessions
In-person therapy allows individuals a change of scenery and a designated place where they can come to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences outside of their home and work environments. Some find it easier to connect with their therapist when they are in the same room and like to treat therapy as they do other out-of-the-home appointments as it may increase commitment and routine. Additionally, in-person therapy allows the therapist a greater opportunity to pick up on non-verbal cues that may occur 'off-camera' during virtual sessions.
For those who prefer in-person sessions, Resilient Cactus Psychotherapy has access to private office space in the Peterborough area on Mondays and Fridays. Please note, this space is not wheelchair accessible and requires the use of stairs to the upper level.
Virtual Sessions
Although the pandemic moved many services online, psychotherapy has been offered online for more than 20 years and is proven to be just as effective as in-person therapy! With that said, online counselling may not be for everyone. Individuals requiring emergency response services are better served through local in-person supports. Those interested in virtual sessions should have a basic understanding of how to log into a website platform and troubleshoot common issues with their camera and sound.
Online sessions are accessed through a secure video platform or stable phone connection so you can experience therapy in a comfortable, private setting of your choosing, such as your home, office, or even car! You just need a solid internet connection and a device with a camera, such as a cell phone, laptop, or tablet!
